About Me

How I got here

From a very young age, I cultivated an interest in both spirituality and mindfulness. As a child and teenager suffering from anxiety, I sought out many different methods for calming my mind. I exercised, prayed, connected with music, and established a journaling practice early on. Despite my efforts, my anxiety always had ways of sneaking back into my life, and for many years, my happiness was often tainted by the fear that it wouldn’t last.

It was only through the path of yoga and mindfulness that I was able to overcome this fear. Because of the tools that I have learned on this path, I now feel confident in my ability to handle a wide spectrum of unpleasant emotions. Tools like self-compassion, acceptance, embodiment, and self-inquiry have transformed my relationship with both my body and my mind.

Around the same time I started practicing yoga, I also started learning about the Enneagram. In the past six years of studying this tool, I have found it to be an invaluable resource for understanding our habitual thoughts and actions. Enneagram experts Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson describe the Enneagram as “an interpretation of human personality so encompassing that it takes us to the threshold of the spiritual.” For me personally, working with this tool has allowed me to better understand the layered nature of the ego and empowered me to improve my relationship with myself and others. With increased awareness of our ego, we are able to begin making conscious choices, rather than impulsive ones.
